For many years the vision of sailing academy has been a dream in the minds of everyone who loves the sport. Two former athletes established sailing instructors, George Giavouroglou and George Kefallonitis, after many years of hard work and persistent endeavour, fulfilled this untied dream, creating the Sailing Academy, a unique athletic and cultural location at Schinia beach.

Using the opportunity to travel different parts of the world images, ideas and experiences from athletic events and meetings, they have created a training centre for children, adults, but also for advanced athletes.

In the past they have organized sailing schools for beginners and also for champion – class athletes in co – ordination with various sailing clubs e.g. The Hellenic Yachting Club, the Yachting Club of Rafina, the Yachting Club of the residents of Vouligmeni, Yachting Club of Nea Maderi, Yachting Club of Mykonos etc…
They have led many of their child athletes to achieve recognition in World, European and Greek championships in the categories of optimist, Laser, 4.70 and trainers for the Special Olympics they have won many distinctions’ more recently the achievement of Gold and Silver medals in the Special Olympics which were held in Shanghai in 2007.
Apart from athletics, the Sailing Academy offers a beach – bar, a children’s playground, a mini football ground, a basketball court, free care – taking of craft and surf boards for members, a pool – bar and restaurant, which are open all year.

In co – operation with “Marathon Horizons” and other organizations, they organize and host various cultural events.
